Awards
In 2008, the City of Irvine received the Education & Media Flex Your Power Award for its participation in the Community Energy Partnership. This award Recognizes the educational efforts that has positively impacted energy efficiency and/or demand response activities. The CEP distributed 60,000 CFLs to Irvine residents and also distributed energy efficiency information to a broad audience through media outreach as well as through Meals on Wheels, the local community college and university, and the City's largest senior center. Bi-lingual staff also reached citizens for whom English is their secong language. Finally, the CEP reaches out to students through the PEAK curriculum program which educates students about energy use and demand response.
Congratulations to the City of Santa Clarita for receiving a 2008 Clean Air Award from South Coast Air Quality Management District in the category of Model Community Achievement!
In 2007, the City of Irvine received the Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Planning and Environmental Quality for its participation in the Community Energy Partnership. Established by the League of California Cities, The Helen Putnam Award recognizes Irvine’s use of cost-effective and convenient methods to change the energy consumption habits of residents and businesses in an effort to protect the environment, save money, and conserve resources today and for future generations.
In 2001, the Two Cities Energy Project was named a winner in the category of Energy Conservation for the State of California's highest and most prestigious environmental honor: the annual Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award.
